The Brewing of Time: Creation of the Calendar

In the bustling halls of the bankers' guild, a crisis was brewing, not of the financial kind, but of the chronological sort. The tangled web of money transactions had become a nightmare to record, until a clever mind conjured up a revolutionary idea: a calendar system. The guild eagerly embraced this innovation, but soon found themselves faced with a puzzling dilemma: how to pinpoint the elusive year zero?

As fate would have it, a charismatic stranger appeared at their table, bearing a mysterious and aromatic gift: the enchanting elixir known as coffee. This magical beverage was the catalyst for a eureka moment: the guild decided that the advent of coffee would mark the dawn of a new era. And so, the year zero was born, with the ages preceding it dubbed "Before Coffee Existed" (BCE), and the subsequent years proudly proclaimed as the "Coffee Era" (CE). The bankers raised their cups in a toast to the stimulating spirit that had brought order to their ledgers and harmony to their timelines.

The Accidental Awakening of Chaosah

In the humble confines of an orphanage dorm, a 7-year-old prodigy named Chicory was secretly experimenting with the mystical forces of magic. Her curiosity and creativity led her to attempt the summoning of a powerful Magmah ball, but as she poured her energy into the spell, it unexpectedly collapsed under its own mass, giving birth to a miniature black hole. This freak occurrence sparked a fascination within Chicory, and she became determined to unravel the mysteries of this uncharted phenomenon.

As she delved deeper into her research, she coined the term "Chaosah" to describe the unpredictable, boundary-pushing magic that emerged when conventional spells were pushed to their limits. With an insatiable thirst for knowledge, Chicory devoted her life to studying the Chaosah, embracing the unpredictability that came with it.

The Passing of the Torch: Chicory's Apprentices

Twenty-seven years had passed since Chicory's fateful discovery, and the now-seasoned mage had decided it was time, on her thirty four years, to share her unique understanding of Chaosah with a new generation.

She handpicked four talented young women: Thym, 22, Cayenne, 17, Mustard, 15, and Cumin, 14. All five possessed the innate ability to channel the Rea of chaos, the raw magical energy required to wield Chaosah magic. In an unorthodox approach, Chicory chose to transmit her knowledge through oral tradition, relying on personal anecdotes and experiential wisdom to guide her apprentices. As Thym, Cayenne, Cumin, and Mustard began to grasp the fundamentals of Chaosah, they instinctively added their own innovative twists, surprising Chicory with their creativity.

However, tragedy struck when Mustard's curiosity got the better of her, and she attempted to climb a rickety potion shelf. The shelf gave way, sending a cascade of potions crashing down upon her, and in a burst of magical energy, Mustard vanished into thin air. Despite this unexpected loss, Thym, Cayenne, and Cumin continued to thrive under Chicory's guidance, and their progress reinforced her conviction that the art of Chaosah should remain unbound by written dogma, allowing future generations to continue pushing the boundaries of magical expression.

And so, the oral tradition of Chaosah was born, with Chicory as its guardian and catalyst.

Birth of Wasabi: A Child of Fate

In a humble village nestled in the valley of the majestic Klesmorh mountains, a young life emerged, destined for greatness. Wasabi, a newborn infant, was born to parents who, struggling to make ends meet, made the heart-wrenching decision to abandon her in the mountains, leaving her to the mercy of the wild.

The cries of the helpless baby echoed through the valleys, until a majestic white dragon female, with a heart full of compassion, sensed the infant's distress. She swooped down, her scales glistening in the sunlight, and chased away the wolf that had been closing in for the kill.

As the dragon approached the baby, she discovered that Wasabi possessed a remarkable gift - the ability to channel the light, the luminescent magic of Lumiah. Enchanted by the infant's innate abilities, the white dragon female decided to take Wasabi under her wing, and a community of white dragons, dwelling in the snowy peaks of the Klesmorh mountains, welcomed the baby as one of their own.

They nurtured her alongside their own dragon cubs, feeding her from the same nest, and showering her with love and care. As Wasabi grew, she would come to embody the unique bond between humans and dragons, forging a path that would be filled with wonder, magic, and adventure.

The Enigmatic Vanishing of Chicory

At the age of 42, the renowned master of Chaosah, Chicory, embarked on a perilous journey, delving deeper into the mysteries of interdimensional travel than she ever had before. As she pushed the boundaries of the unknown, she vanished into the vast expanse of the multiverse, leaving behind only whispers of speculation.

The three remaining witches of the Chaos (Thym, 30, Cayenne, 25, and Cumin, 22) were left to ponder the circumstances of her disappearance. Some believed that Chicory had simply lost herself in the labyrinthine dimensions, while others suspected that she had chosen to abandon her life in their world, perhaps seeking new adventures or escaping the mundane concerns of their reality.

The timing of her disappearance only added to the intrigue, coinciding with the notoriously dreaded tax day, which had been particularly "salty" that year for the new school of Chaosah. Meanwhile, Cumin had been celebrating the completion of a new song on her ukulele, a melody that would now forever be tinged with the bittersweet memory of Chicory's vanishing.

This sudden and mysterious event ended the training for Thym, Cayenne, and Cumin, and was a turning point as they found themselves thrust into the role of masters, each compelled to forge their own unique path and explore the uncharted territories of Chaosah. The disappearance of Chicory remained an enduring enigma, a reminder of the magic and mystery that lay just beyond the edge of their understanding.

The Rise of the Chaosah Empire

In the fractured land of Hereva, where petty kingdoms and incessant border skirmishes had become the norm, the three witches of Chaosah discovered a lucrative niche for their unique skills. As mercenaries, they offered their services to the highest bidder, leveraging their mastery of Chaosah to turn the tide of battles and influence the outcome of wars.

Their reputation grew, as did their importance, as they became coveted assets for armies seeking to gain the upper hand. As their power and influence expanded, the three witches began to insinuate themselves into the intricate web of local politics, pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

It was during this period that the witches of Chaosah earned their notorious reputation, striking fear into the hearts of their enemies and inspiring awe in those who dared to oppose them. Their mantra, "Fear, Obedience, and Respect," became a dark refrain, echoing throughout the land as a reminder of the consequences of crossing the Chaosah trio.

As their dominance grew, so did the whispers of their ruthlessness, and the people of Hereva began to tremble at the mere mention of their names. The three witches had become the embodiment of the Chaosah, their magic and mystery woven into a tapestry of fear and reverence.

The Ignition of the Great Magic War

A spark of discord between the esteemed schools of Maghma and Aquah witches ignited a catastrophic conflict that would soon engulf the entire magical community. As the two schools clashed, they hastily sought alliances, forging bonds with other magical disciplines and drawing them into the fray.

The debate and fighting rapidly polarized the magical world, forcing every practitioner to take a side. The Chaosah trio, notorious for their mastery of the unpredictable arts, threw their lot in with Maghma, while the enigmatic Zombiah, with their dark and mysterious powers, also pledged their allegiance to the fiery school.

Meanwhile, the luminous Lumiah, with their singular practitioner, and the gentle Hippiah, with their green-thumbed adherents, rallied behind the aquatic school of Aquah.

As the Great Magic War began, the landscape of magic was forever altered. Wasabi, the young dragon-raised prodigy, stood at the threshold of adulthood, 16 years old and poised to play a pivotal role in the conflict. The Chaosah trio, now seasoned veterans of magic and politics, stood ready to unleash their unique brand of chaos: Thym, the cunning strategist, 43 years old; Cayenne, the passionate and fiery mage, 29 years old; and Cumin, the creative and unpredictable wild card, 24 years old.

The stage was set for a war that would reshape the magical world, as the mighty schools of Maghma and Hippiah, with their hundreds of students, clashed with the lesser-known but fiercely dedicated disciplines of Lumiah, Chaosah, Zombiah, and Aquah. The fate of magic itself hung in the balance, as the Great Magic War commenced, threatening to engulf the entire realm in its turbulent wake.

254

The Clash of the Titans

The Great Magic War raged on, but it soon became apparent that the majority of magic students were not warriors at heart. They were scholars, healers, and artisans, not battle-hardened mages.

However, when Wasabi, the 18-year-old prodigy, and the three witches of Chaosah clashed on the snowy peaks of the Klesmorh mountains, the true extent of their powers was revealed. The fight was a spectacle of magic and fury, with the four combatants exchanging blows that shook the very foundations of the earth.

The ever-snowy mountains, a place where Wasabi had grown up and honed her skills, proved to be a decisive advantage for the young mage. The snow-covered landscape, with its endless expanse of white, also provided her with an abundance of reflective surfaces, amplifying her connection to the Lumiah and granting her unparalleled access to its power.

Under the icy gaze of the mountain peaks, Wasabi struck down the three witches of Chaosah, her magic overwhelming them as they froze in place, their bodies encased in a tomb of ice. Thym, 45, Cayenne, 32, and Cumin, 26, met their end in a frozen tableau, a testament to Wasabi's unyielding ferocity and her mastery of the Lumiah.

The End of the War

The sudden and brutal extinction of the Chaosah school sent shockwaves throughout the magical community. The loss of an entire school and its knowledge was a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of war.

The remaining magic schools, realizing the senseless destruction they had unleashed, quickly moved to establish a treaty and bring an end to the Great Magic War. Diplomacy and negotiation replaced conflict and bloodshed, as the magic world struggled to come to terms with the new reality.

But amidst the relief and the rebuilding, a sense of fear and unease settled over the land, for Wasabi, the young and powerful mage, had emerged as a force to be reckoned with. Her morality was unbound, her magic unchecked, and her name became synonymous with terror.

The Wild Chaos

However, the aftermath of the war brought an unexpected and explosive phenomenon.

Without the Chaosah witches to channel and control the Rea of the Chaos, the raw magical energy began to spread unchecked, infecting the world with its wild and unpredictable power.

Famine

The consequences were catastrophic: harvests failed, catastrophes struck, and the natural balance was disrupted. Even Hippiah witches couldn't help during the Wild Chaos. The inhabitant of Hereva started to be angry at witches, making them responsable for all of that.

The Birth of Ah: Wasabi's Divine Ambition

At the tender age of 19, Wasabi experienced a profound revelation, one that would change the course of her life and the fate of the magical world. She founded a new cult, which she dubbed Ah, and proclaimed herself a goddess, destined to guide the people of Hereva towards a brighter future.

With her mastery of the Lumiah, Wasabi could manipulate the Rea of light to create dazzling apparitions, conjuring visions of goddesses, prophecies, and mystical entities that left her followers in awe. The White dragons, her adoptive family, always around her, added to her divine aura, and soon, the population was convinced of her godly status.

As the cult of Ah gained momentum, the people of Hereva began to construct a grand temple in the lands of the setting moons, a sacred site dedicated to the worship of Wasabi and the principles of Ah. With her newfound political influence and resources, Wasabi invested heavily in the development of Ah, creating a sanctuary for the countless abandoned children of the era. The cult's message of hope and redemption resonated deeply with the people, and soon, Ah became the largest school of magic in Hereva, attracting hundreds of young witches who sought to learn the secrets of the mystical arts.

Under Wasabi's guidance, the witches of Ah learned to communicate with ghosts, delving into the mysteries of the afterlife and promoting the existence of a spiritual realm beyond the mortal world. This message of comfort and reassurance found fertile ground in a time of chaos, as the people of Hereva were facing a deep feeling of uncertainty. Ah's popularity soared, and Wasabi's divine reputation grew, as she became the embodiment of hope and salvation in a world torn apart by magic and mayhem. The stage was set for a new era of spiritual and magical exploration, with Wasabi, the self-proclaimed goddess, at the helm of the cult of Ah.

The Birth of Pepper

In the midst of this turmoil, a young child was born, destined to play a significant role in the shaping of the magic world. Pepper, a mysterious and enigmatic figure, appeared in the orphanage of Squirel's End, her parents and origins unknown.

Like many children of that year, she was abandoned, probably due to the severe famine of that time, and left to fend for herself in a world gone mad. But as the magic world struggled to rebuild and recover, Pepper's story was only just beginning...

260

The Wild Chaos Reaches a Boiling Point

Five years of unrelenting Chaos had pushed the world of Hereva to the brink of collapse. The unpredictable and destructive forces that had been unleashed by the demise of the Chaosah school had shown no signs of abating, and the land was scarred by the constant turmoil.

But it was not until the fateful day when the largest city of the Technologist Union, Qualicity, was ravaged by a devastating earthquake that the true extent of the Chaos became apparent. The earthquake, a cataclysmic event that seemed to defy the laws of nature, struck with unprecedented ferocity, leaving half of the city in ruins.

But in a bizarre and fantastical twist, the remnants of Qualicity did not crash to the ground, instead, they were lifted high into the sky, suspended by a thick disc of stone and massive pillars that seemed to have been conjured from the very earth itself. The city, now a surreal and gravity-defying marvel, hung precariously in the air, a testament to the unfathomable power of the Wild Chaos that had consumed the world.

As the people of Hereva gazed upon the floating ruins of Qualicity, they couldn't help but wonder what other wonders and terrors the Chaos had in store for them.

A Council of Magic: A Desperate Bid for Stability

The elders of the magic schools, realizing the catastrophic consequences of the Wild Chaos, convened an emergency council to address the crisis. The gathering of esteemed mages from all disciplines blamed Wasabi, now 24 years old and embracing her divine persona, for the devastation she had unleashed upon the world. They demanded that she take responsibility for her actions and work towards restoring balance to the magical forces. Wasabi, with an air of divine nonchalance, agreed to cooperate, acknowledging the need for stability in the world.

A proposal from the Zombiah family, known for their mastery of dark and arcane magic, was put forth: a spell that could revive the three witches of Chaosah, Cayenne, Cumin, and Thym, but at a terrible cost. Each year of their new life as zombies would require the lifetime of another person, a grim exchange that weighed heavily on the council. Wasabi, in a surprising display of selflessness, offered to sacrifice her own lifetime to revive the witches for three years each. The spell was cast, and Wasabi's body suddenly aged nine years, transforming her into a 33-year-old woman.

The frozen bodies of the witches, preserved on the battlefield, were revived through the zombification process, but the ordeal had taken a toll on their physical appearance. They were now prematurely aged, their bodies bearing the scars of their frozen slumber. The three witches of Chaosah returned to life, each reacting differently to their newfound existence. Cayenne became withdrawn and serious, dedicating herself to intense magical training, fueled by anger and a desire to reclaim her lost time. Cumin, on the other hand, chose to indulge in the pleasures of life, focusing on cooking and savoring the joys of good food and company. Thym, meanwhile, embarked on a journey of self-discovery, exploring her own sexuality and the mysteries of the human experience.

As the witches settled into their new lives, the world began to heal. The Wild Chaos, once a force of unpredictable destruction, began to subside, and the magical balance was slowly restored. The council, with Wasabi's cooperation, forced the witches to establish a formal school of Chaosah, documenting their knowledge and teaching new students to ensure the continuation of their legacy. The witches, now bound to the council's will, were compelled to train a new generation of mages, who would eventually replace them and maintain the delicate balance of the magical forces. The price of their revival was clear: they could be "deactivated" at any time, their zombie existence a constant reminder of their debt to the world.

The Reluctant Search for a Student

The three witches of Chaosah, Cayenne, Cumin, and Thym, now zombies bound to the council's will, went through the motions of establishing a school, but their hearts were not in it. They knew their existence was fleeting, and their primary concern was not to create a lasting legacy, but to simply fulfill their obligation to the council.

With a mix of apathy and procrastination, they dragged their feet, pretending that finding a suitable student was a daunting task.

Finding the worst student

After two years of half-hearted searching for the "perfect imperfect" pupil, they finally stumbled upon one candidate in the school of Hippiah: Pepper, a 7-year-old girl with a flair for the dramatic and a passion for witchcraft that rivaled her lack of actual talent.

Pepper's time at the school of Hippiah had been marked by difficulties, as her fellow students had bullied her mercilessly. The final straw came when Pepper's magic got the better of her, and she accidentally destroyed a significant portion of the school with a powerful anti-gravity shockwave. It was a masterpiece of mayhem, a symphony of destruction that echoed through the fabric of space-time itself.

The resulting gravitational wave, a ripple in the very essence of reality, was felt by the infamous trio of Cayenne, Cumin, and Thym, who descended upon the school. They found there a young girl, slow learner, untalented, and prone to losing control. Pepper was the perfect candidate to throw a wrench into the workings of the Magic Council.

Quassiah, the 36-year-old master of the local school, was astonished to see the three witches alive, having thought them long dead. Her relatively low grade in Hippiah magic had kept her out of the council's inner circle, and she was not privy to the secrets of the witches' revival.

"Cayenne, Thyme, Cumin, I thought that you were.... Impossible!"
~ Quassia, episode 18.

Pepper joins Chaosah

Fearing the consequences of the partial destruction of the Hippiah school, and feeling not at her place in Hippiah, Pepper was more than happy to leave the school for the three witches of the chaos, who promised her a new start and a chance to master the unpredictable magic of Chaosah.

Accompanied by her new faithful cat found that day, Carrot, who was only 1 year old, Pepper set out on a journey that would change her life forever.

263

The First Era of Teaching Pepper

The three witches of Chaosah, Cayenne, Cumin, and Thym, returned to their old house near Squirel's End, the same house where Chicory had once trained them in the mystical arts. With a sense of urgency, they embarked on a crash course to teach Pepper the fundamentals of Chaosah magic. The young girl, then 8 years old, was not a quick learner. As the year drew to a close, Pepper had grown from a novice to a ... advanced novice.

At least, the three witches had managed to document their knowledge in a series of dusty tomes. Their time together was short-lived, as their zombie existence was nearing its end. The price of their revival, paid in years of Wasabi's lifetime, had been a temporary reprieve, and now they were being called back to the grave. To spare Pepper the pain of losing her mentors, they concocted a story, telling her that they were embarking on a spiritual journey to a far-off land, from which they would return one day. The truth, however, was far more sinister.

Pepper playing while her godmothers write all about Chaosah on books.

The golden years of Pepper

Pepper, unaware of the witches' fate, set out to find them, accompanied by her faithful feline companion, Carrot. This period, often referred to as the golden years of Pepper&Carrot, was marked by adventure, excitement, and a deepening bond between the young girl and her cat. Pepper's style during this time was eclectic, often wearing her robe of Hippiah or donning a cowboy costume from Squirel's End, complete with a custom hat. She stubbornly refused to wear black, as her masters had suggested, preferring to express herself through her colorful attire.

As Pepper explored the world, the council of Magic believed that Pepper, with time and training, would eventually master the Chaosah magic and bring balance to the world.

But the three witches, in their final act of defiance, had knowingly chosen the worst student, and their plan was not to save the world, but to outsmart the council's expectations. The stage was set for a new era of chaos, as the unchanneled forces of magic began to stir once more, and Pepper, with her unorthodox methods and rebellious spirit, was about to become the unlikely hero of a world on the brink of disaster.

267

The Beginning of a New Era

The official start of the Pepper&Carrot series: at 11 years old, Pepper is alone at home, dressed in her familiar Hippiah attire, a reminder of her roots and her connection to the magical world. The three years she had spent living alone had been a time of growth and self-discovery, during which she had honed her magical skills in a somewhat unorthodox and random manner.

270

The Potion contest

Four years had passed since the beginning of Pepper's solo journey, and she was now 14 years old. Her visit to the city of Komona for the Potion Contest, however, was not without incident. The trip was a disaster, and Pepper's antics did not go unnoticed.

A spy hired by the Magic Council school, mysteriously named Mister Girafe (realname Euphorbia), had been observing her from the crowd, taking note of her progress and unique energy and potential. He's not only a skilled spy but also a powerful magician of Hippiah, serving as a close bodyguard in disguise. His mission was to protect Pepper, should her life be in danger, and to keep a watchful eye on her as she navigated the complexities of the magical world.

271

A Birthday Party and the Seeds of Friendship

Pepper's 15th birthday celebration is a turning point and the event of that night and the following days turned her guest, a group of young witches met at the Potion Contest, into who would soon become her closest friends: Saffron, Shichimi, and Coriander. All of the same age.

The Revival of the Witches

The council of witches, determined to mitigate the chaos that had been plaguing the world, made the decision to revive Cumin, Thym, and Cayenne once again. This time, however, there was no predetermined end date for their revival. The council decreed that the witches would remain alive until Pepper, the young and talented mage, was deemed ready to take on the responsibility of channeling the Chaosah magic. The cost of this revival would, once again, be borne by Wasabi, who had already sacrificed a significant portion of her lifetime to revive the witches previously.

Wasabi, now 35 years old, but appearing as a 50-year-old due to the Time Debt she had accumulated, began to feel the weight of her sacrifices. She had grown increasingly resentful of the council's demands and the burden that had been placed upon her. As she continued to age at an accelerated rate, with each passing year adding three years to her physical appearance, Wasabi's frustration turned to anger. She started to formulate a plan to destroy all the other magical schools, beginning with the school of Zombiah, which she saw as the lead of the council.

Meanwhile, the witches of Chaosah, Cumin, Thym, and Cayenne, were surprised to find themselves reborn once again. They had expected their previous plan to fail, but instead, it had given them an unexpected reprieve. They realized that by not teaching Pepper, they had inadvertently gained extra lifetime. Emboldened by this discovery, the witches decided to adopt a more relaxed and unpredictable approach to Pepper's education.

"It is our duty to make you a true, mean witch of Chaosah."
~ Thyme, episode 11.

They would go slow, teaching her in a random and unstructured manner, all while enjoying the extra time they had been granted. The stage was set for a new era of magical exploration, as Pepper, with her unique talents and abilities, would be guided by the witches of Chaosah, who were determined to make the most of their extended lifetime.

273

The Passing of a Legend: Apiaceae

In a year that would be etched in the annals of Zombiah's history, the venerable Queen Apiaceae succumbed to exhaustion, leaving behind a legacy of wisdom and wonder. As the grand daughter Coriander grew into her newfound role, the weight of responsibility settled upon her young shoulders.

Though still a maiden, Coriander's coronation was imminent, and with it, the revelation of secrets surrounding the enigmatic Pepper would soon be hers to bear. The council, wise and just, smiled upon the blossoming friendship between Shichimi Coriander and Pepper, sensing a harmonious future for the realms of Chaosah, Zombiah, and Lumiah.

274

Coriander's Coronation

As the calendar flipped to 274, the witches of Chaosah converged upon the coronation ceremony, their presence a deliberate tease, designed to ruffle the feathers of the esteemed magic schools. Wasabi, resplendent in her finery, attended also the festivities, happy to see the Magic Council weaken by the lost of Apiaceae, and the replacement by a novice like Coriander.

Later that day, Pepper triggered her first chain reaction, a spectacle that began with a humble skewer. Thyme couldn't help but chuckle at Pepper's progress, while Cumin and Cayenne exchanged disbelieving glances, their faces aglow with wonder.

"Ladies, I think this Pepper of ours is finally ready!"
~ Thyme, episode 29.

The air was electric for the three witches, as if the balance of magic schools was being rewritten before their eyes.

276

Pepper's Triumph: A Bittersweet Victory

At the tender age of 20, Pepper stood poised on the threshold of a major milestone, as she faced off against her teacher, Cayenne, in the Chaosah exam. A big clash and a spectacular display of spellcraft. For years, the witches had deliberately delayed Pepper's success, intuitively sensing that once she mastered the exam, they would be sent back to the grave by the Magic Council. But Pepper's prowess had grown too great to be denied, and she finally obtained her exam.

However, behind the scenes, a different drama was unfolding. The new young Queen Coriander, with a heavy heart and a deep sense of loyalty, had made a fateful decision: to maintain the spell of revival for Thyme, Cayenne and Cumin, and thereby condemning Wasabi to an accelerated path to death.

The Queen of Zombiah's motivations were twofold: to punish Wasabi for her past transgressions and to spare her dear friend Pepper the pain of losing her family, no matter how complicated their relationship.

Wasabi, meanwhile, seethed with indignation, her sense of injustice simmering like a cauldron about to boil over. As the reality of her situation sank in, she began to weave a sinister plot, with Qualicity and the Magic Council squarely in her crosshairs.

The seeds of a new war were being sown, and the future of the magical world hung precariously in the balance.

The Meeting with Wasabi: A Dance of Deception

As the auroras cast their vibrant glows upon the Ah Temple, the Knighting of Shichimi ceremony was in full swing, with Pepper, resplendent in her tattered black dress and adorned with vibrant tattoos, making a dramatic entrance: she crashed into the audience with her broom. Wasabi, her eyes gleaming with a mix of fascination and malice, watched Pepper with an intensity that bordered on obsession. The years had not diminished Wasabi's beauty, for she appeared to be a stunning 40-year-old, her youthful visage a testament to the powerful glam spell that had become her constant companion.

But beneath the surface, Wasabi's true age told a different story – 64 years of life, with 24 of those years spent in servitude to the witches of Chaosah. The weight of those years, the sacrifices she had made, and the injustices she had suffered, all swirled together in a toxic brew of resentment and anger.

As she gazed upon Pepper, Wasabi's emotions reached a boiling point. With a calculating glint in her eye, she decided to test Pepper, to push her to her limits, and to gauge the depth of her influence over Shichimi. The air was electric with tension as Wasabi manipulated the situation, forcing Shichimi to clash with Pepper in a spectacular display of magic. Wasabi watched, her eyes drinking in every detail: Pepper was ready, the Chaos was channeled, and the balance of magic was maintained.

The time for revenge had finally arrived, and Wasabi's plan to attack Zombiah and the Council of Magic could now be set in motion. With a swift and ruthless efficiency, Wasabi made her move, attempting to capture Pepper alive, intending to imprison her. The masks were off, the gloves were cast aside, and the true nature of Wasabi's intentions was finally revealed: a desire for domination, for control, and for the destruction of all that stood in her way.

277

The massive chain reaction

Pepper, in her quest for employment, inadvertently stumbled into a maelstrom of conflict. Her innocent endeavors managed to irritate two armies, who, in a radical turn of events, declared war on all witches. The situation spiralled out of control, with the armies marching towards Wasabi, intent on destruction. As the chaos reached a boiling point, Pepper, oblivious to the fact that she had sparked the conflict, attempted to resolve the crisis.

"Everything that's happened is directly or indirectly, the result of my actions, my choices... in other words my chain reaction!"
~ Pepper, episode 36.

In a bold move, she summoned a colossal spell of love, harnessing the power of a dragon's Rea to fuel her magic. Meanwhile, Shichimi and her lover Torreya seized the opportunity to escape, and in a daring maneuver, they leaked Wasabi's plan to attack Qualicity and informed Queen Coriander of the impending danger.

The Poisoned Witch: A Desperate Quest

Pepper's world was turned upside down as she fell ill, the Rea of the dragon coursing through her veins like a deadly poison. The very magic power that had once been her salvation now threatened to consume her. Forced to flee from her loved ones, Pepper became a fugitive, with a price on her head courtesy of Wasabi's ruthless machinations.

Guards and headhunters lurked in every shadow, eager to claim the bounty on her head. With her movements restricted and her life in peril, Pepper embarked on a perilous quest to find the legendary tears of a great Phoenix, said to possess the power to heal even the most grievous of wounds.

The Healer's Facade: A Life of Deception

But as the sickness took its toll, Pepper's sense of identity began to unravel. She disappeared into the wilderness, adopting the persona of "Pep'rah the healer" and she joined fantasy quests, reliving the carefree days of her youth.

Yet, this new life was a lie, a fragile facade constructed to escape the complexities of her old one. Pepper's true intention was not to heal others, but to flee from the politics, wars, and expectations that had suffocated her. She spent her days squandering the precious tears of the Phoenix, using their healing properties to sustain her new facade.

It wasn't until Cayenne tracked her down that the illusion was shattered. Cayenne's arrival exposed the truth: Pepper was not a healer, but a witch on the run, desperate to escape her past and find a new sense of purpose.

The time had come for her to rejoin her friends and face the challenges she had been trying to escape, to find a new path, one that would lead her back to her true self.

278

The Treaty of Peace

In a groundbreaking turn of events, Queen Coriander's tireless efforts finally yielded a revolutionary breakthrough. Her lifelong obsession with the Potion of Zombification, which had begun to take shape during her childhood and was showcased at the Potion Contest, had led to the creation of a new, perfected potion. This innovative concoction could sustain the life of the godmothers of Pepper without requiring further "years of sacrifices" from Wasabi, effectively ending the cycle of exploitation.
